Buddies In Space With Special Guest Loquacious Librarian Laura Lintz

In this episode, the Buddies enjoy low-sugar blueberry-kiwi-gin iced tea with special guest Laura Lintz, a fascinating “woman to watch” and true industry “disruptor” in terms of how people view and interact with their library.

Topics range from library pooping (it’s a thing, apparently), letting wolves loose at library functions (which should NOT be a thing) and watching porn in the library (which apparently has ALWAYS been a thing).

Also- “Diabetes, what’s that like?” Running to live forever! And SO MANY LIBRARIAN SECRETS YOU’VE BEEN DOING THINGS WRONG ALL THESE YEARS AND YOU HAD NO IDEA OMG!

The Buddies Review Ready Player One with Special Guest Dan Saper, Geek Dad!

The Buddies load up on some Ready Player One-themed “Scurvy-Bustin’ Citrus Mules” and, as Guest Fest continues, welcome Mike’s old college buddy and improv comedy compatriot Dan Saper, “The Man With An Indiscernible Accent!”

Topics joked about range from the Ready Player One movie vs the book, geek parenting and the college pranks of yesteryear. And the Buddies even keep the episode clean so that Dan’s kids can listen!

Also, Dan reveals a shocking secret that he’s kept from Mike for almost 20 years.

Wow.

With Special Guest Matt Quinn, aka The Missed Bromance

In this second installment of the “Guest Fest” episode series, the Buddies quaff Averna Siciliano-based Black Manhattans alongside their special guest, virologist and all around geeky dude Matthew Quinn.

Matt recounts his and Mike’s doomed bromance from days past, reveals a truly amazing number of interesting (and depressing) facts about microorganisms and comes dangerously close to both out-geeking and out-podcasting the Buddies. But what else would you expect from Mike’s doppleganger?!

Also: Career paths based off of Michael Crichton novels! Barbecued parrots! And of course, so much laughter…

BIS Trolley Problem

Thinking About Thought Experiments

I want to play a game…

The Buddies enjoy Thai Basil Daiquiris as they ponder, parse and pontificate upon the greatest of intellectual pissing contests, the philosophical thought experiment! Marvel at their wit, and groan at their incompetence.

Also: Trying to make coding sound interesting! The philosophy Altered Carbon! And loads of friendly mind torture!

Thai Basil Daiquiri Recipe (1 serving)

5 fresh basil leaves

2 oz white rum

1 Tbsp simple syrup

Juice from 2 fresh limes

The Buddies Hang Out With The Black Panther

The Buddies record a shorter episode than normal due to Mike’s recovering voice and nurse some Fig Old Fashioned as they gush all over The Black Panther.

In Addition: Shows they’re watching that you should be watching too! Swamp ass! And pressing address corrections!

The Last Bud-di.jpg

The Buddies Tackle The Last Jedi

Well, we all knew it was coming… In this episode, the Buddies partake of Mike’s tasty-yet-not-too-sweet strawberry and whiskey lemonade as they discuss that most inevitable of topics, the latest Star Wars film.

BIS Black Mirrors and Dark Chocs

The Buddies squeeze some Buddha’s Hand into S’mike’s take on The New Black cocktail and then explore the inspirations and hidden, disturbing implications of the much-lauded Black Mirror episode “USS Callister.”

Then it’s on to a late-night blind chocolate taste test, which  goes… not so great.

Smorgasbord of BIS

Smorgasbord of Geeky Delights

The Buddies stay on the health train by chugging kombucha grapefruit margaritas while exploring the batshit insane history of Marvel’s least favorite son, Captain Marvel.

Mike also recounts the horrors of throwing his son two separate 4th birthday parties in one weekend, from which he is still recovering as you read this.

Black Mirror and Electric Dreams then get compared and contrasted. Mostly contrasted.

BIS Covered Wagon Snake Oil

Snake Oil Samplers

With S’Mike feeling under the weather, the Buddies embrace the non-alcoholic life by devoting an entire episode to taste-testing a batch of insanely expensive, horrifically vile health tonics, tinctures and infusions.

Fear the Walking Tumeric! Run from the stupidity of “raw water!” Embrace the simple palate-cleaning beauty of birch -bark infusions!

Also: Next day gastrointestinal updates, reactions to Michael Wolffe’s “Fire and Fury” and rave reviews of Futureman!
