“And lo, did Buddies In Space return to form.”

No guests. No gimmicks. Just sheer, unmitigated, mildly antagonistic geek humor, baby! The Star Wars ticket pre-sale madness gets it’s due while hipster-Jamaican drinks are thrown together and consumed. Computer names and builds are discussed and then, inevitably, argued over.

Warning: there’s some nerd smack-talk up in this podcast…

Mike expounds on Joseph Campbell, his beliefs on mythology and how social media is utterly destroying the communal elements of humanity. You know, nothing deep or anything. Also the “Star Wars Is Anti-White” BS movement gets dissected, as does the darker side of the geek community.

S’Mike then shows off his fancy smartwatch. Shiny!

Also: DC’s unintentionally racist Vathlo Island. 3D movies. Edith Bunker or Hamilton or whatever.

Bam. Every element of geekdom served.

For this episode, the Buddies are joined by national Man of Mystery and Mike’s oldest friend from high school, Mr. Benjagamin Coury (his pronunciation). He’s many things: Scholar. Political Theorist. Web Designer. Former Store Manager of a Certain Evil Cell Phone Retailer. And he’s blowing the whistle on EVERYTHING.

OK, some of that isn’t true.

What, maybe he’s not really a scholar?!

Actually, the Buddies get political for a hot damn minute (or twenty), and their guest shares some great methods to research politics in an unbiased way, as well as his predictions for how this Presidential race will play out.

The evils of sales and retail employment also get explored at length, and there’s even a happy ending for our erstwhile guest host. Awwwwww. And hey, the number of people who don’t want children actually outnumber the parents in this episode!

Plus- Video game and Dungeons & Dragons nostalgia! Pony rides! Grappa! The bizarre meta-ending of Big Bang Theory!

Woah Nelly, does this episode start out dark! Mike delves into the insanity of a recent death in the family, and the Buddies attempt to find humor in it where they can. More of Mike’s cult background is also discussed. ‘Cuz that’s funny, right?

Right?!

Things move on to lighter fare when S’Mike provides one last box of childhood detritus for the Buddies to mine, and boy is it ever filled with… stuff. Some of which is disintegrating.

A strong-but-delicious drink recipe is tested and is found to pass muster, especially with hipsters. Also the podcast title is explained.

The Buddies relive their Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica toy days from childhood, complete with REAL toy sounds (thanks, Youtube!) Also, Mike forces S’mike to begrudgingly talk about Star Wars on Star Wars day. Over and over and over again. The Star Wars Holiday Special might even get critiqued. Guess you’ll hafta listen to find out, huh?
